Office of the Attorney General is under fire for failing to responding to court directives on filing its response in a case that Rastafari Society of Kenya seeks to suspend implementation of certain sections of the Narcotics Drugs Act.

The society through their lawyer Shadrack Wambui has now written to AG Paul Kihara over the matter.

“Kindly note that we are yet to receive any response from yourselves, bearing in mind the explicit directives from the court,” the letter by the society reads in part.

According to Wambui the mentions are too much without progress and it is time the AG declare whether they will respond or not.

‘‘We have a strong case that is why they have not responded despite court directing them to do so…we had four mentions and we are getting impatient with their absence that’s why we want the judge to continue with the case.’’ Wambui told the media.

Wambui father accused the police for harassing and intimidating the Rastafari Society members by raiding their homes and place of worship.

‘‘The police have raiding their homes, basements ,work stations and even their places of worship in search of bhang ..this is a clear intimidation on this group and the court should protect them because it is within their rights to seek justice at any given time and the government should not feel threatened.
