Wilfred Odalo Elected to Steer The Budget Committee

Mabatini Member of County Assembly Wilfred Odalo has been elected un opposed as the new Budget and Appropriations Committee Chairperson after his competitors withdrew from the race.

Odalo was set to face off with Jubilee’s Robert Mbatia who withdrew from the race after ‘sensing’ defeat.

He will now oversee the Committee charged with interrogating financial prudence of the County Government among several other related matters.

The Azimio coalition scooped all the chairperson and vice chairperson of the powerful committee.

Odalo will be deputised by nominated MCA Emily Oduor.

“I’ve served before as the chair of public accounts and I delivered a number of things this one I know I will serve very well,” said Odalo in his appreciation speech.

The elections come hot on the heels of a busy assembly schedule with CECs vetting and budget yet to be debated.

The House has already approved Members designated to various Committees following a Motion moved  by the Leader of Majority, Peter Imwatok on Thursday October 27, 2022.

Speaker Ken Ng’ondi will chair the Powers and Privileges Committee. Members of the House leadership will not sit in this 14 Member-Committee.

The minority Kenya Kwanza Alliance will chair the powerful watchdog Public Accounts Committee and the Public Investments Committee.
