Trouble is brewing within the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya following cracks within its ranks within Nairobi County.

These has been occasioned by what is seen as attempts by ODM party to short-change other constituent parties of the Azimio Coalition Jubilee party and Wiper democratic movement in appointment of members to various committees of the house.

According to sources within the Nairobi City County Assembly who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity due to the weight of the matter as the house is set to form committees, ODM has taken the path of short-changing other parties in the Azimio coalition, a situation that is a potential threat to the survival of the coalition.

In the coalition agreement on the leadership of the house, a pact had been reached on the committees that ODM, Jubilee and Wiper would chair but details are now emerging that ODM has planned to present names of proposed chairs of the committees which had initially been agreed to go to Jubilee and Wiper.

ODM have since changed tune and using its superior numbers as compared to other Azimio parties, to gobble up all committee leadership positions owing to their superior numbers within Azimio.

ODM commands 35 members in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition in the Nairobi City county assembly.

“We had agreed on the committee that will go to Jubilee and Wyper but now our brother in ODM want o chair all the major commitee short changing us..If it was not for Wyper and Jubilee the Speaker would have lost to the the UDA candidate , ODM sould stop being greedy and respect other parties too ” Azimio affiliated MCA stated.

Our source, cited the example of the budget and appropriations committee.

This committee had been lined up to be taken by Jubilee party by ODM are said to have already settled on Mabatini Member of County Assembly Wilfred Oluoch Odalo.

The Budget committee had initially been reserved for Jubilee and Kariobangi South/Mowlem ward representative Robert Mbatia was lined up to take over as chairman.

ODM Executive Director Oduor Ongwen had communicated to the speaker of the House Ken Ngondi on how the assembly committee leadership had been divided among the constituent parties and fingers have now been pointed to Speaker Ngondi and the other house leadership for the short changing and the looming fallout within Azimio.

According to reports, Sarangombe ward MCA Lawrence Otieno Odhiambo, popularly known as Lawi is lined up to take over the chairmanship of the committee on transport which had been reserved for Wiper party this even as intense lobbying continue before the house committees choose their leaders.
