Sonko and Ngwele Could Soon be Back in Cityhall After Nairobi Assembly Fires Critical Lawyers in their Cases

Nairobi City County Assembly Speaker Ben Mutura has now replaced lawyers representing him at a case where former Nairobi clerk Jacob Ngwele appealed against ruling on decision to dismiss him.

In a letter seen by Taarifa Media Team Mutura fired Diro Advocates and replaced them with new law firm Guandaru Thuita andz Company Advocates.

The move is geared in reaching a compromise with former clerk this after Mutura accused Diro Advocates for filling submissions without his consent.

“We refer to the above matter and the application seeking review dated Notice of Motion dated 15th June, 2021.

The firm of Diro Advocates LLP was previously representing the 1st Respondent but owing to their action of filing Submissions in respect of the aforesaid application contrary to, without consultations with and/or against the instructions of the 1st Respondent, has been removed from this matter and we were instructed to take their place.” Letter from Guandaru Thuita and Company Advocates reads.

“Our instructions are to withdraw the Submissions dated 22nd June 2021 filed by Diro Advocates LLP purportedly on behalf of the 1st Respondent.

Kindly assist us in having the said submissions expunged from the record and/or informing the bench presiding over the application to disregard them.” It continues.

According to insiders in the Assembly, it is wider move and twist that could see Ngwele back in Cityhall soon.

“It is broad they want to bring Ngwele back and that lawyer who have been remove was critical in that case….they have also done the same in Sonkos’ case and soon you will see the two Sonko and Jacob Ngwele back in Cityhall..they want to stab authority in Assembly and also have Sonko back so that they can send NMS away.” The source said.
