Three officials of the Nyandarua County Assembly including the deputy speaker have been found guilty of contempt of court.

Deputy Speaker Zachary Njeru, Majority leader Edinald King’ori and acting assembly clerk Elizabeth Muthui have been found to have violated court orders directing that they allow the County Assembly Speaker Ndegwa Wahome access to his office, give back his official car as well the assembly mace.

Justice Hillary Chemitei fined the three Ksh. 400,000 each or serve two months in jail.

Nyandarua County Commissioner Benson Leparmorijo and County Commander Zachary Kimani had also been enjoined in the case.

Justice Chemitei gave the county commissioner and commander 48 hours to ensure that the assembly is opened for Wahome, his official car surrendered to him and the mace be taken back to the assembly.

Wahome had been impeached by a section of MCAs but was reinstated back to office by the High Court. He went back to office last week and hoped to reunite the divided Assembly.
