Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka has strongly reprehended prevalent teenage pregnancies within schools in the region warning they won’t be tolerated.

In his address during the 2023 Mashujaa Day Celebrations at Ndivisi Primary in Webuye East Constituency, Lusaka expressed his uttermost concern over rising cases of teenage pregnancies in schools, cautioning that the perpetrators will face the full force of the law.

“It is disheartening to learn of the increasing numbers of teenage mothers and school-going children. Those culpable will be dealt with accordingly, he said.

The governor called upon parents to discharge their responsibility, imploring them to be vigilant during school holidays.

“Take control of your children as schools break for the long festive holidays. It is your sole responsibility as parents”, he reiterated.

He further urged education teams to look into an infamous Bungoma school that has recently been a breeding ground for teenage pregnancies in the entire county.

“Visit the institution and establish the course of this alarming trend. This is a crisis, he observed.

The function was attended  Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany, Thomas Sankei (Bungoma County Commissioner), Hon.Martin Wanyonyi (Webuye East MP), Hon. Emmanuel Situma (County Assembly Speaker),MCAs, CECMs, and senior county officials, among others.
