Kenya Tobacco Control Alliance (KETCA) Chairman Joel Gitali, has called on the President to speak out and take control of the Corruption in the Ministry of Health and Scandals at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA)

According to Gitali, one year after the president promised that KEMSA scandal reports will be out, nothing has been done and more scandals are being reported.

“It is very sad of the corruption taking place in the ministry of Health and KEMSA. People are just looting at KEMSA without thinking of the life of Kenyans. They are just after making themselves rich and nothing less,” stated Gitali.

He questioned why the report has taken over a year for the perpetrators to be brought on board and prosecuted.

Gitali called on the president to act and order the arrest of the people involved in the scandal for them to be prosecuted.

“Instead of the reports being given to us, we are seeing more scandals taking place at KEMSA. We know it is campaign time but let not Kenyans be left to perish as we have seen donor and international stakeholders leaving or cutting short their aid,” he added.

The chairman said the 2030 vision cannot be achieved if the scandals and corruption continue.

Further on, he added that cancer patients some of who are victims of Tobacco products are the ones suffering this time as the cancer machines that have broken cannot even be made.

The government has also been called to lower the Political temperature and take care of the needs of Kenyans who are suffering at their expense.
