The Government has been urged to issue laptops to parents with children living with hydrocephalus complications to equip them.

Maureen Sharon Awino, the champion for advocacy of hydro warriors said kids suffering from Hydrocephalus, Spinal bifida, Cerebral palsy and Autism issues can be reliable future leaders if given support by the community, Government and families.

Flanked by several officials from the National Council for persons with disability(NCPD) led by senior officer Isaac Simiyu, Sharon urged the Government to support the said kids since they have different talents.

Sharon made the announcement over the weekend, while celebrating children living with hydrocephalus, a condition affecting their lives in unique ways.

She thanked Germany, USA governments and NCPD for supporting their initiative, vision, mission and objectives.

According to Benrose Mutethya a resident of Kariobangi South and a final year student at the Kenya College of Accountancy said she was diagnosed with hydrocephalus when she was 7 and things she was able to do at that young she is unable to do currently.

“As I grew older I realised that my body had developed some changes in that I couldn’t do some work or exercises such as push-ups because I had pain on my back,” Mutethya said.

The event, held at the Nairobi Central business (CBD) carried a noble purpose: to shower the children with love and care, aiming to brighten their spirits and instilling a sense of belonging.

To mark the event was a cake cutting celebration and a sumptuous lunch offered to the kids.

The occasion is held annually as a special charm, that coincided with the birthdays of nearly five children grappling with hydrocephalus complications.

The event was spearheaded by Neuro Kids Warriors, an organization devoted to providing unwavering support to children navigating the intricate landscape of neurological challenges.

In a brief interview, Mr Simiyu said the annual event is held every year on September 30th to elevate the lives of children affected by this condition.

“We are delighted to mark this annual event with these kids. NCPD serves as a guardian of these rights, ensuring their recognition and protection within society, and plays a vital role in championing the rights of individuals with disabilities,” he affirmed.
