Mombasa gubernatorial hopeful under the Wiper ticket Mike Sonko came face to face with his main rivals AbdulSwamad of ODM and Hassan Omar of UDA.

The three met at a Church breakfast meeting held at Bahari Beach Hotel.

The meeting also brought together all religious leaders and aspirants across the political divide.

In his message to his supporters,Sonko called on voters not to be divided along tribal, religious or social grounds

“As l have always put it,color, tribe, religion, family background and societal disbeliefs should not divide us leaders,” Sonko said in his social media post.

He also called on leaders and candidates in particular to respect voters and help those in need.

” We should always respect our people. We should always be ready to help and start with them at all time,” he added.

AbdulSwamad said that Mombasa will remain united after the August 9 elections.

” We have always been one people and we promise to preach and champion for love and peace before and after elections,” he said.

The religious leaders who spoke emphasized the need to respect the religious and cultural diversity that has always united the coastal region.

Recent opinion polls have shown that Sonko’s popularity has risen fast and he has been tipped to edge out ODM’s AbdulSwamad.
