Nairobi County Assembly speaker Kennedy Ngondi has revoked the nomination by Azimio one Kenya leadership for the house.

The speaker stated that the communication that he read was not in the order paper of the day and was misguided.

“From the foregoing, it’s evident that communication so relayed by the chair had no basis on the law for the following reasons; the chair was not properly in office hence incapable of receiving any communication nor providing the authority for the Clerk to act on it, the communication did not originate from the party and did not constitute business for the day under the gazette so published,” Ngondi stated.

Shorty after being sworn in, Ngondi communicated that Makongeni MCA Peter Inwatok had been nominated by the coalition for the majority seat and Laini Saba MCA John Ndile , Kilimani MCA Moses Ogeto as the Majority Whip and Upper Savannah MCA Stazo Omungala as his deputy, while nominated member Catherine Okoth was to represent in the County Assembly Board.

According to standing order 4(2) (a) the speaker is not allowed to conduct any other business apart from what was gazetted and provided in the order paper.

The speaker has owned the mistake of saying the timeliness of the communication was a wrong one.

“There was a mixed up in the communication and that’s the reason behind the letter sent to the coalition reviling the list. We will wait for their communication and the way forward,” Ngondi stated.
