Kenya to host United Cities and Local Governments of Africa

Kenya government yesterday committed to host the East African Regional Office for the Unitedd Cities and Local Governments of Africa(UCLGA).

Kenyan cabinet Secretary for Devolution and Asals Hon. Eugene Wamalwa leading the Kenyan deligation to the ongoing UCLGA’S 25th Ordinary Executive Meeting in Cairo confirmed that had identified and allocated space to Ambank House in Nairobi to house the Regional secretariat.

The office will coordinate the activities of the East African member Associations of the six East African countries.

This follows an agreement between Egypt and UCLGA to host the North Africa region in Cairo.

While addressing the delegation, hon Wamalwa said that the development will make Kenya play a vocal role in UCLGA’S affairs and help strengthen devolution wwhich has deeply taken root in Kenya.

Kisumu county governor on the other hand used that opportunity to comfirms Kenya”s strong relationship to the organization and the decision to grant Kisumu the hosting rights of the 9th edition of Africities Summit was well merited.
