One thousand bright and needy students from the recently released Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams will benefit from a Sh90 million scholarship grant by the family bank.

This is an increase of Sh30 million from the previous amount through the Tufuzu Elimu High School initiative by the bank.

The program targets over 350 schools in sixty-six sub-counties across the country.

The CEO designate Nancy Njau said they are committed to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all the children in the country with parents experiencing the tough economic times.

She said it is their goal to ensure relief for struggling parents.

“With the tough economic conditions, as a Bank, we are committed to ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all. Through our education pillar, we will be able to offer bright and needy students the opportunity to pursue and complete secondary education. This will provide relief to parents struggling to meet tuition needs and greatly contribute to the 100 per cent transition policy put in place by the Ministry of Education.” Nancy said.

The awarded scholarships will cater for both tuition and upkeep for the beneficiaries and also offer soft-skills training for the students through annual workshops and boot camps.

The partnership seeks to train close to 1000 vulnerable women by 2025 through a KES 30 million partnership.

According to the Sustainable Development Goals Report 2023, the low and lower-middle-income countries face a nearly USD 100 billion annual financing gap to reach their education targets.
