Confusion and fraud allegations have rocked the Nairobi County Housing and Project Management after some residents of Maringo/Hamza Ward were evicted and their houses demolished by a private developer.

This was after Hamida Ali the woman alleged to have grabbed a parcel of land got a lease, sought a court order and evicted the tenants from a housing block in Hamza.

According to Documents in our possession the wrangles in the piece of land began in 2011 where the tenants won the case.

So far 20 families have been left homeless following the demolitions.

The Area MCA Mark Ndung’u has since moved to the County Assembly Planning Committee to seek clarity on how Ali was allocated the parcel despite the tenants still holding on to the cards that were original awarded to them for the units.

“There is no way someone can be given a lease agreement for county houses yet there are others who still hold the original allocation of the houses” Argued Ndung’u

In his submission to the assembly Ndung’u sought to know how county Houses were given to private developers.
