A Renegade Traffic Police Officer Engages in Physical Assault against a Female Hotel Manager

The traffic officer who has been on the spot severally for violent public alterations has been identified as Ann Ngovu Mutheu who serves as a senior officer at Nairobi’s Central Police Station.

She brutally assaulted the female hotel manager, who is now fighting for her life at a police station for no particular reason with residents accusing police officers for trying to cover up the matter.

The hotel manager, Nancy Njenga who works at Zaradise Hotel in Bamburi Utange was shockingly arrested despite being the victim.

She was booked at Bamburi Police station and is still being held with Investigations revealing that the rogue Nairobi police officer is working hard in cohort with Bamburi police officers to try and cover up the matter.

The station has been on human rights radar over several accusations on human rights. 

A human rights activist who sought anonymity said that he will right to inspector general of police Mr. Josphat Koome and head of public service Felix Koskei over the escalating human rights abuse by the Bamburi police officers.

“This is total violation of human rights life. We will writes to inspector general of police and head of public service. We need answers. Bamburi police station of late has been misused over corrupt dealings and this must come to an end.” He said 

In the current case, Ngovu is said to have insulted and threatened the hotel manager, spewing to her all manner of dirty words and bragging about her rank in the police force.

On May 17, 2023 the office of the Director of Public Prosecution issued directives to investigative authorities including the police  not to take sides when dealing with citizens.

Despite the hotel manager pleading with the police to allow her seek medical attention after the assault, they decided to stick to the directions of the Nairobi senior officer.

Several laywers are now following up with the matter.

A family member to Njenga accused the police officers for taking sides and denying her constitutional rights.

“We wonder whether this officers at Bamburi police station are humans or animals. Why can’t they not allow our sister to get medication then they take her to police cells”? the family member identified as Martha wondered
