Azimio-One Kenya Coalition faction in the Nairobi City County Assembly has reaffirmed that they cannot be bought into the Kenya Kwanza side, and they are still the majority.

The Assembly Majority leader Peter Imwatok who is the elected member of Makongeni stated that Azimio is the majority and Kenya Kwanza members should wait until the next election.

“Anyone out there who thinks they can create chaos in Nairobi Assembly by mentioning the majority and minority, let them be informed we are the Majority. We are asking them to wait until 2027 because we have been in this game for quite some time,” Imwatok stated.

Imwatok said they are not cheap to be bought into the government side like in the National Assembly where some of the Azimio members shifted into the government side.

‘We are not cheap like the members of Parliament. These MCAs cannot be bought like the way we saw in the National Assembly. You can buy the entire parliament but not here,” he stressed.

The legislator said all the Jubilee MCAs are in Azimio and they won’t buy fear.

His remarks come a few days after the minority leader Antony Kiragu and minority Whip Mark Mugambi stated that they will soon be the majority in the Nairobi County Assembly.

The Azimio legislators said they will be picking the Azimio leader Raila Odinga at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airpot before heading to Kamukunji Grounds for a rally where he is expected to give direction to his supporters.

They urged their supporters to come out in large numbers for the Baraza.

Raila and his supporters wanted some clauses in the 2023/2024 Finance bill changed and removed though it was passed as read by the treasury Cabinet secretary and signed into an Act by the President.
