The government will reinforce helicopter regulations and laws during the forthcoming general elections.
Kenya Civil Aviation Authority [KCAA] Director General Capt. Gilbert Kibe said the regulations would be reinforced especially during the campaign period.
Kibe said he is concerned the politicians are likely to acquire more helicopters during the campaigns session ahead of the 2022 general elections.
He pointed out he will organize a forum with the operators of helicopter to chart the way forward ahead of the polls.
“The crucial meeting on how to reinforce aviation regulations during the campaigns period will involve stakeholders,” he added.

Kibe refuted claims the operators can just wake up one day and decide to fly and land without adhering to the aviations rules.
He denied claims the operators can land anywhere with the approval of the regulatory body.
“Any movement of the facility within the country’s airspace has to have the authority’s approval,” he added.
The KCAA boss told journalists the operators of drones will not be allowed to infiltrate and interfere with private affairs of individuals.
Kibe cautioned the operators of drones that they will be prosecuted if they are found to have infiltrated into private affairs of any individual.
He announced the authority has an open learning institution for individuals to undergo courses on how to operator the drones.
“We have four learning institutions which offer training courses,” he explained.
The KCCA boss asked the Mombasa county government to expedite the process of relocation of Mwakirunge dumpsite to a different site
Kibe insisted the site poses danger to flights landing at Mombasa’s Moi international airport.
He said this is as a result of birds which frequent the dumpsite causing confusion to flights landing at the airport.
“It’s against the authority’s regulations to have a dumpsite near an airport which is the case worldwide,” he pointed out.
