Nairobi County Assembly has now launched investigations into the construction of Parliamentary Studies and Training building in Karen estate.

Karen MCA Antony Maragu while requesting for a statement on the same noted that the county government of Nairobi and the developers did not follow correct procedure before initiating the project.

He further noted that the developer even ignored a court order obtained by Karen Langata District Association restraining them from developing the area.

“The chairperson should report on whether county executive is aware of the agreement with Karen – Langata District Association, the approval for the construction of proposed thirteen storey building for Center for Parliamentary Studies Training ,Who authorized the construction of the aforementioned building and. Whether the county executive is aware of the court order prohibiting the same.” Maragu said in his statement request.

In a statement dated Tuesday, January 3, the Karen Langata District Association (KLDA) alleged that the 14-storey building being constructed by PSC did not conform to the standards of the estate.

“KLDA is not against development. However, developments must conform to the Karen Local Physical Development Plan that guides development in Karen, primarily a residential area.Adjacent to the proposed PSC building planned to host government officials, there are Karen residents who have invested heavily in their residential homes,” read the statement in part.
