KNCCI Boss Sends Goodwill Message to Muslim Families

The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president Richard Ngatia has today sent out a message of goodwill to all Muslims as they celebrate Eid Ul-Fitr.

Ngatia, in his message, wished the Muslim faithful a blessed season during Eid as he congratulated them upon the completion end of the Holy Month of Ramadhan and the marking of the festivities.

The Chamber president noted that a large majority of Muslim Faithfuls are largely people in the business sector which he leads and said that their contribution to the sector was well recognized and appreciated. “Eid ul Fitr marks the end of the holy period of Ramadan. Eid is significant because it marks the completion of a month-long fast from dawn to dusk. And as Muslims in Kenya and Worldwide mark the joyous festival of Eid, I on my personal behalf and on behalf of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry wish you a joyful Eid filled with love, happiness, and blessings.

“May this Eid bring you peace, prosperity, and success in all your endeavors; Eid Mubarak to my dear friends, May Allah’s blessings be with you and your loved ones always. May this Eid be a new beginning of greater prosperity and success in all your business ventures and May Allah always bless your hard work,” Ngatia added.

Ngatia said that the Muslim Community in Kenya plays a big role in the development of trade and noted that their role in the national building was steadfast.

“We recognize your great contribution to the economy of Kenya in your different ways of business and appreciate your efforts. That is why we join you today in celebrating this special day,” Ngatia emphasized.

On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki gazetted Friday as a public holiday to allow the Muslim faithful to observe Eid-ul-Fitr declaring the day as a public holiday.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, I declare Friday, 21st April 2023, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr,” Kindiki said.

Eid-ul-Fitr is a major religious holiday for Muslims that marks the end of the month-long fasting period of Ramadhan which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.

The celebration begins with special prayers, known as the Eid prayer, performed early in the morning after the sighting of the crescent moon.

Muslims dress in new or clean clothes, offer charity to the poor, and visit relatives and friends.
