Diamond Platinum is the only artist from East Africa who has been nominated in the 2021 MTV EMAs Award.
The nominees were announced on Wednesday with Diamond being nominated in the ‘Best African Act’ Category.
Diamond will be battling for the trophy against Ghana’s Amarae, South African Singer Focalistic and Nigeria’s Tem and Wizkid.
Diamond in 2015 bagged the Best African Act award, during which he beat South Africa’s AKA, Ivory Coast’s DJ Arafat and Nigeria’s Davido and Yemi Alade.
Last year, the Best African Act trophy went to South African singer Master KG.
The 2021 Europe Music Awards (EMAs) are hosted by American entertainment channel MTV and are the European version of Video Music Awards, commonly known as VMAs.
The award ceremony will be held on November 14 in Budapest, Hungary.
