Bungoma farmers have received 258,000 bags of affordable, subsidised fertiliser from the national government.

The fertiliser was flagged off in Webuye in a function graced by Kenneth Makelo Lusaka, who thanked President William Ruto for fulfilling his agenda of giving farmers subsidised fertiliser.

Lusaka noted that the lowering of the cost of subsidised fertiliser will help the country achieve its agenda of food security and eventually lower the cost of living.

UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala affirmed his faith in President Ruto achieving the Kenya Kwanza Plan, stating the price of the subsidised fertiliser was reduced from Ksh. 3,500 to Ksh. 2,500.

The Governor also runs an ambitious programme of distributing free farm inputs to at least 500 vulnerable farmers per ward across the county, promising to increase beneficiaries further in this financial year.

The leaders thanked Bungoma residents for shunning protests called by opposition leaders, stating the protests were a way to distract the government from fulfilling its agenda for the residents.

Deputy Governor Janepher Mbatiany, Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama, MCAs, CECMs, and other senior national and county government officials were present.
