AFC leopards were beaten 2-1 by Bandari football club during the weekend Premier League fixture played at Kenya Ports Authority [KPA] Mbaraki sports club in Mombasa county.

The Ingwe defeat is the second in a row after archrivals Gor Mahia beat them 1-0this week with the coastal team recovering from the mid week fixture defeat by Posta Rangers 2-0 at the same venue.

The home team was reduced to 10 men in the second half after their custodian Michael Wanyika was given marching orders after wasting time.

Bandari football team was the first to score through imported Ugandan player Umar Kasumba in the 21st minute of the game which was characterized by drama.

The visiting team equalized through a penalty shot taken by Isaac Kipyegan on in the 35th minute after the home team custodian fouled an Ingwe player which earned him his first yellow card.

Towards half time the home team scored their second goal after off colour player William Wadiri converted a penalty shot after Washington Munene, a new signing for Ingwe from Wazito football club, handed the ball in the box.

During the 90th minute of the match the centre-referee George Mwai who had a difficult time pointed a penalty to be taken.

The home team missed four chances which came their way while a visiting team player Benard Wanyama missed a shot after hitting the goal post.

After a short break the home team mounted pressure which never produced any fruit to end the first half with a 2-1 score.

AFC Leopards coach Patrick Aussems caused a stir at half time and after the final whistle when he confronted the centre-referee accusing him of substandard officiating.

Aussems, who was flanked by the entire technical bench of his team, caused tension and panic before security personnel move in.

The entire second half belonged to the visiting team before the home team was reduced to ten players forcing Bandari head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo to rest the team’s first goal scorer Ugandan import to pave way for Burundian imported custodian Justin Ndikumana.

Lack of seriousness and urgency led to Ingwe’s defeat as they seemed to have forgotten the home team was leading on the pitch.
