Nairobi City County Assembly MCAs now demand answers on why the 2021/22 county bursary disbursement have delayed. In a statement request to the House by Mugumoini MCA Jared Akama the disbursement were to be done before children resumes for term two.

The House wants an explanation from the Committee on how Childhood Education and Vocational Training funds were utilised.

He said they had promised parents to disburse the funds before the opening of Schools.

However schools opened today for the Second term of 2021 but the funds are yet to be deposited.

He urged the committee to give a status on the formulation of the amendment which seems to have halted the whole process.

“We had promised parents that before schools open we will have disbursed bursaries but so far the process seems to have stopped,” paused Akama.

The amendment of the Nairobi County Council Bursary and Scholarship Fund Regulations came into place after Bursar’s and school Principals were complaining of not having received funds from the county after they’re sent.

” So far we have seen nothing happen and if we continue keeping quiet then our parents will suffer alot. We want to push the executive to ensure that the amendments come to the Assembly fast for approval,” said Akama.

As schools resumed today, the Parents have continued to complain of a hard time to pay fees due to the demanding academic Calendar
