A family in Kabete is calling on Well-wishers to help their boy proceed to High School weeks after his form one admission day passed due to lack of fees.

Speaking to TaarifaNews, the single mother of the 15-year-old boy said she does not know how her son will get to school as they have been unable to even get the results slip from his previous school because of a debt they still owe and they were told to clear it before they are given.

“Benjamin scored 341 marks and was called to an extra county school in Kitui County which is very far and I cannot even afford the fare,” Mama Benjamin stated.

She stated that they tried looking for space in nearby schools but they were being asked to make a deposit of cash before they are even given the admission letter and their efforts to look for sponsors have been futile including the office of the Governor of Kiambu County where they were told scholarships had already been issued.

“We went to Kiambu High School but we were told to make a deposit of ksh. 10,000 before we are given admission. We went to a nearby day school and it was the same. I went to Kanunga boys last week where we got the letter through a friend and we are waiting for anyone to come to our rescue,” She added.

The single mother of two lost her property and other kid in an inferno two years ago and has never been able to fully recover with Benjamin being able to finish his primary education through the help of well-wishers.

His elder brother who is at the University of Nairobi is also yet to graduate and has delayed for two years since the mother is unable to raise the fees required and he has been unlucky to secure HELB.

“Before being affected by an inferno in 2019 I was doing a small business selling peanuts. Now after the disaster, I lost everything with good Samaritans helping me school Benjamin in Primary,” she stated.

“I call upon well-wishers to help my son accomplish his dream of being an Architecture after Campus,” she said.

The call of the family comes one month after students reported to school last month and will be breaking for the midterm break in two weeks.
