Senior politician in Webuye seek nullification of MP Dan Wanyama

Webuye West parliamentary contest has ended up in court for determination in what is termed as a mother of all election petition.

Kelly Walubengo of UDP party has filled a petition in Bungoma High Court in a petition vide 02 /2022.

Walubengo has said, the election of UDA Candidate Dan Wanyama was invalid and marred with massive electoral malpractices.

Through his legal team Walubengo has accused the electoral body that was tasked to referee the contest for acting with bias and impartiality.

“We have filled our petition within the required constitutional stipulates and we are ready to argue our case. We are coming to this court to prove that this election was a fraud and the invalid winner was aided by unscrupulous IEBC officers..”, said Lawyer Nyaribo Isinta.

The legal team in a 41 pager petition , told the media that they have adduced an arithmetic doctoring evidence that led to declaration of the winner among other malpractices.

Webuye West constituency returning officer Ms. Peris Saina declared Dan Wanyama the winner with 14424 against Walubengo of UDP who garnered 12,005.

Walubengo (petitioner).has also apportioned blame to security apparatus for sabotaging the will of the people.

Lawyer Brian Omeri said there were violence on the material day as well as broken electoral materials that compromised the quality of the polls.
