NGO Council Lauds the Government For Security Beef Up in the Rift valley

National Council of NGOs of Kenya, has lauded the steps the Government through the ministry of interior and coordination of National Government in addressing the cases of insecurity in kerio valley region and other parts in the North rift.

In a statement to the media, the chairman of the Council called upon the leaders of the region to preach peace in the areas so that citizens can continue with their normal life.

“We are happy because the government has gone a step ahead to ensure that security is restored in the areas. As leaders from the region lets ensure that security is restored in the region,”said Cheboi.

their statement come after the Interior affairs cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i led a meeting with leaders from the affected areas to ensure normalcy is achieved.

“Security teams will tomorrow begin a sustained 14 days exercise to evict invaders and return normalcy in Muchongoi area of Baringo in an operation that will cover similarly affected areas of Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot Counties,” said Matiang’i.

He said multi-agency team will employ aerial reconnaissance and attack assets to aid the operation and recruitment of Police Reservists to beef up security especially in learning institutions to allow for reopening. Arrests and prosecution of financiers and cultural leaders engaged in administering oaths to follow soon.

The areas have been having insecurity issues with people losing lives and animals from attack by bandits.
