University students have been challenged to actively take part in the ongoing voter registration exercise to enable them vote for the leaders of their choice.

The Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry boss Richard Ngatia who is eyeing Nairobi Gubernatorial post called on the students to register in big numbers ahead of the August 9 election.

Ngatia who has been holding town hall meetings with different groups of people in the county, hosted over 3000 students drawn from Universities and tertiary institutions within Nairobi.

In his quest to tap on the votes of the youths he called on students to reach out to the chamber of commerce for opportunities in the digital economy and business opportunities outside the country.

“Our direction going forward is the Azimio La Umoja because that is where our dreams and your dreams as young people will be realised. There are opportunities in the digital economy, scholarships for students like you and many other opportunities,” he said

Ngatia promised to give priority to empowering start-up businesses by university students if elected Governor

The Chamber of commerce president said that university students are critical in running online and digital campaigns, noting that he is going to partner with student groups to support the voter registration drive.

He also also called on University students to support the Azimio La Umoja movement leader Raila Odinga adding that Raila has a better plan for the Kenyan youths compared to other presidential candidates.
