Women’s Rights Organization has asked stakeholders to accord women more political space ahead of the general elections.
Maendeleo ya Wanawake lobby group asked the political parties, and other election stakeholders to help Women overcome the challenges they face in the campaigns.
Speaking to the media during a brief today, Maendeleo ya Wanawake Chairperson Rahab Muiu said women aspirants should be given a platform to share their agenda with voters.
“We call on political parties, and other election stakeholders, to do their part in helping women overcome the challenges they face during campaigns,” said Rahab.
They also warned politicians against using the youths and giving them small handouts that they use to drink and continue with their hopeless life.
“As mothers of these unemployed youths, we feel you are using them, making them nothing else other than wait to cheer you, give them your small handouts of less than Ksh.500 which they will go and drink and continue with their hopelessness,” she paused.
Further on, they called upon the political leaders to tread carefully when addressing the citizens not burdening them with unhealthy politics.
There have been raising temperatures in the political scenes and Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organization claims it will worsen the living standards of citizens.
