Bahati residents in Nakuru have called on the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to narrow down on a criminal gang which they claim is working closely with area Member of Parliament Kimani Ngujiri.

The locals have linked the deadly criminal gang to the rising insecurity and motorbike theft in the area and have asked the MP to come clear over the matter.

“ These people are always in his rallies and he know them very well that is why nothing is being done to protect us from their evil activities,” Martha Wangari who is shopkeeper in Bahati said

The constant attacks have particularly affected boda boda riders who purchased their motorbikes on credit.

Interestingly, the MP was on record last month saying that the attacks seem to be well-coordinated where those who have completed paying for the motorbike loans are attacked, killed or maimed and their motorbikes stolen.

“People are being killed here every day, just yesterday a young man was brutally murdered. He had just completed paying for his motorbike loan from a local lender. We are asking, is there any connection between the lenders and the gangs?” Ngunjiri inquired.

“There seems to be a collusion between those lenders or insiders in the credit facilities that are leaking customer’s information and whereabouts of these people,” Ngunjiri added.

The locals want concrete and credible investigations over the matter before the situation gets worse.
