Martin Munene Njenga, son of former Naivasha Member of Parliament John Mututho, was arrested on Monday by detectives immediately after attending a court case at Milimani Law Courts. Munene, who faces multiple criminal cases at both Milimani and Kibera courts, was apprehended in connection with allegations of fraud involving the theft of a motor vehicle valued at eight million Kenyan shillings.

The motive behind Munene’s arrest is yet to be disclosed, but it is alleged that he sold a motor vehicle belonging to one of his clients without their knowledge. This latest arrest adds to the legal woes facing Munene, who has been entangled in various criminal proceedings.

During a court mention at Milimani Law Courts before Hon. Susan Shitubi, Munene’s lawyer informed the court of a stay order issued by the High Court, halting proceedings at the lower court. Despite this, Munene faces charges related to an incident that occurred on March 15th, 2023, in Lovington, Nairobi. He is accused of jointly defrauding Agnes Wairimu of eight million Kenyan shillings by falsely promising to import a Range Rover motor vehicle, a claim he knew to be false.

The case is scheduled for mention on June 13th, 2024, in court one. Munene’s arrest underscores the seriousness of the allegations against him and the ongoing legal battles he faces.
