It has now emerged that Judges, Magistrates and other Judiciary employees will wait abit longer for their salaries to be gazetted by SRC after their representatives joined the Chief Justice Martha Koome JSC to Dubai for a beach enjoyment trip dubbed ICPAK induction training.

Among those in attendance, apart from the two are deputy chair Macharia Njeru who’s the male Law Society of Kenya (LSK) representative, the other members are Jacqueline Ingutiah who is LSK’s female representative, Justice Mohamed Warsame representing the Court of Appeal.

Majanja is a judge of the High Court. His terms comes to an end in May, 2024.

According to some reliable sources, the said trip that would have been done cheaply here in Nairobi began on October 22 and will end on November 4, meaning the team is on their 10th day of the meetings at Pullman Deira City Centre Hotel. The City has good sceneries and key JSC commisioners held some deep conversation before they agreed on it as the favourite destination.

” Iam one of the key officials from ICPAK, i confirm that the trip is fully sponsored by the Judiciary, we are empowering its members with knowledge,” said one of the attendees

As this is happening, empoyees of the Judiciary are yet to see their improved terms gazzetted.

Not long ago, the same commissioners moved across the country in the court stations. They promised Magistrates that their salaries were to be gazetted. Many have termed this a ploy to fleece tax payers.

“We watched last Friday’s gazette notice and nothing was there. We are tired.” One Resident Magistrate spoke to the writer in confidence.

Other members include
Attorney General Justin Muturi, Justice Mohammed Ibrahim for the Judges of the Supreme Court, former Bomet Governor Isaack Ruto, Caroline Ajuoga and Charity Kisotu all on behalf of the Public Service Commission. The Judiciary Registrar, Anne Amadi, is the secretary.

Ms Amadi confirmed the meeting in Dubai. “All the commissioners are attending. Thanks,” said the board Secretary.

This comes as the President gave a directive that foreign trips needed to be cut off for the revival of the economy.

Is it possible that the Judicial Service Commission and the Chief Justice are untouchables?
