The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has expressed optimism regarding the recent developments aimed at uncovering the truth behind the fake fertilizer scam. President of the LSK, Hon. Faith Odhiambo, commended the National Assembly for taking steps towards ensuring accountability in the matter.

“We are encouraged by the steps taken by the National Assembly in seeking accountability over the fake fertilizer scam. We call on our parliamentarians to prosecute this matter to its conclusive resolution in accordance with their constitutional mandate and to rebuild public trust in the institution of Parliament,” stated Hon. Odhiambo.

In line with their demand to the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Cereals & Produce Board (NCPB), the LSK reaffirmed their commitment to advocating for comprehensive investigations into the issue and pursuing legal action against those implicated.

Furthermore, the LSK emphasized their intent to closely monitor the NCPB’s process of compensating farmers affected by the scam. They stressed the importance of ensuring that such efforts are structured, transparent, and that the source of compensatory funds is disclosed to prevent misuse of public funds.

The LSK’s statement underscores the importance of accountability and transparency in addressing the repercussions of the fake fertilizer scam.

As investigations continue and actions are taken to rectify the situation, the LSK remains vigilant in safeguarding the interests of affected farmers and ensuring justice is served.
