Kimani Wa Makaratasi, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Jamii Products, is not just a businessman; he is a beacon of hope for Kenya’s youth. With his humble demeanor and kind heart, he’s using his entrepreneurial ventures to inspire and uplift others while making a positive impact on the environment.

In an exclusive interview with Taarifa News, Kimani shared the journey that led to the inception of Jamii Products. “My idea was born out of the Government’s Declaration of a ‘total Ban’ on single-use plastics back in 2017,” he revealed. “I envisioned a cleaner environment and sought to create packaging solutions that were both eco-friendly and sustainable.” Thus, Jamii Products was born, specializing in recycling khaki paper and fabricating a range of attractive and biodegradable products.

During the visit to his workshop, our team witnessed a hive of activity, with workers diligently crafting packaging bags, gift packs, and cake boxes from recycled materials. Kimani Wa Makaratasi oversees operations with a watchful eye, ensuring smooth functioning and quality production.

But beyond business success, Kimani is deeply committed to empowering Kenya’s youth. “Currently, Jamii Products Limited has employed twenty full-time staff, mostly youths,” he shared. “I am focused on delivering them from the threat of drug and substance abuse, while also supporting the government’s Bottom Up Economic Transformation agenda.”

One aspect that sets Kimani apart is his dedication to inclusivity. Recognizing the rights of persons with disabilities, he provides free training to empower them with valuable skills for independent living. These training sessions, which span 7-10 days, are open to individuals of all ages and educational backgrounds, ensuring equal opportunity for all.

Moreover, Kimani Wa Makaratasi extends his goodwill beyond the workshop, engaging in Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for prisoners nationwide. By offering support and opportunities for rehabilitation, he aims to contribute to the social welfare and transformation of communities across Kenya.

In a society where success is often measured by material wealth, Kimani Wa Makaratasi stands out as a symbol of compassion, resilience, and environmental stewardship. Through Jamii Products and his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment and inclusivity, he is not only building a thriving business but also fostering a brighter future for Kenya’s next generation.
