Human Right Activists have condemned violence that was witnessed in Migori County on ODM presidential candidate Jimmy Wanjigi.
Led by Cidi Otieno, the human rights activists says that politicians should not be stoned when selling their manifesto.
He added that if things continue the way they are then a repeat of what happened in the 2007 election will reoccur in 2022 general election.
“We say that is it very wrong for someone to be stoned because the constitution allows him to campaign in different parts. We know that in the constitution every politician has a right to campaign anywhere within the country. If things continue this way then we will experience the same thing that happened in 2007,” says Cidi.
He also advised politicians to stop inciting people for the country to experience peace during the next general election.
“We have heard and seen politician inciting people and if things continue like this then the next general election will be really affected. It is every politician right to tour the country and sell their manifesto while asking for votes,” he added.
“We would like to request Kenyans to listen to all politicians even if they do not love them and choose their right person election period. If things continue like this they will force politicians to stay where they are loved and that will not be politics which is not right,” Cidi said.
Jimmy Wanjigi was stoned on Friday while addressing a crowd in Migori County on his Nyanza Tour an incident that forced his security details to whisk him away.
