On Thursday, a majority of the recently elected governors and their deputies were sworn into office to start the five-year journey of implementing different policies promised to the electorate during the campaign period.
In Nyandarua county, the case was not different as Dr Moses Kiarie alias Badilisha took to the podium to take his oath of office in a packed ground in Ol Kalou town.
Al though outgoing governor Francis Kimemia was a no show at the event, proceedings went on smoothly as the instruments of power were warmly handed into the hands of Kiarie who vowed to ‘badalisha’ the livelihoods of Nyandarua residents or else he is ‘badlishwad’ in the 2027 race.
During the event, different leaders, elected, appointed and otherwise, took to the stage to pass their congratulatory messages to the newly inaugurated county boss.
Among them was newly elected Kipipiri MP Wanjiku Muhia, who is proud of having literally uprooted former MP Amos Kimunya from the lives of area residents in order to effectively implement her development agenda.
In her message, Ms Muhia delved into national politics hitting at the Azimio la Umoja coalition for always playing the election rigging card whenever they lose the polls.
“To you ODM and Jubilee candidates, please deploy agents in polling stations so that you avoid these never-ending claims that your agents were chased out of polling stations. Which agents were chased away if they didn’t exist in the first place? You didn’t have any agents and you’re still complaining,” she urged.
The third-term lawmaker expressed faith in the judiciary, where the Supreme court is set to handle the presidential petition filed by Azimio candidate Raila Odinga, noting that all shall be well and president-elect William Ruto’s win will be upheld.
On her development agenda, she promised that she is ready to implement her manifesto in collaboration with the governor and MCAs.
She further lobbied for the sworn-in governor to honour his promise of helping in the completion of Nyandarua Cancer Centre, whose construction she started during her tenure as the county woman representative.
“During campaigns, you promised the people of Kipipiri of help in completing Nyandarua Cancer Centre so they are looking forward to that. We are also expecting to finish construction of a university since Nyandarua is the only county in Mt Kenya region without a public university,” she added.
“We will support you with our MCAs and with a unity of purpose, we will achieve our agenda and if you complete your whole two terms we will see what a 10-year governorship can achieve for us,” she concluded.
