Rebecca Miano, the Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, has been recognized as one of the best-performing Cabinet Secretaries in the Kenya Kwanza Government.

The accolade was conferred on her during an event held on Wednesday evening at the JW Marriott.

Hon CS Miano’s leadership has been marked by dedication, focus, and a keen eye for results. She has played a pivotal role in elevating Kenya’s global standing in trade and investment, spearheading initiatives that have propelled the nation forward.

One of her notable achievements is the successful implementation of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area. Under her meticulous guidance, Kenyan manufactured goods such as tea and batteries have found markets internationally, reaching countries like Ghana and several other African nations.

Kenya and the European Union have entered into a groundbreaking Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). This ambitious agreement guarantees permanent duty-free and quota-free access for Kenyan exports to the EU market, covering a wide range of products including flowers, tea, coffee, fish, veggies, fruits, and nuts.

The EPA also presents lucrative opportunities for EU investment in Kenya’s manufacturing sector, spanning areas like chemicals, steel, pharmaceuticals, and machinery. This is expected to spur job creation and economic growth in Kenya, positioning the country as a hub for European investors eyeing the East African Community (EAC), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) markets.

Commenting on the landmark agreement, Hon CS Miano said, “The Kenya-European Union Economic Partnership Agreement signals to the globe that Kenya is ready to manufacture and export high-value products to the world. This deal not only guarantees higher earnings for our products but also fosters a conducive environment for foreign investment.”

The EPA, reflecting the EU’s new approach to trade and sustainable development, is the first of its kind with a developing country. It sets a precedent for future trade relations and showcases Kenya’s commitment to fostering economic growth and development through international partnerships.

Hon CS Rebecca Miano’s exemplary performance and leadership have been instrumental in driving Kenya’s economic agenda forward. Her dedication to improving the competitiveness of Kenyan products and services on the global stage has earned her this well-deserved recognition as one of the best-performing Cabinet Secretaries in the Kenya Kwanza Government. As she continues to champion initiatives that benefit Kenya’s economy and people, her hard work and dedication are sure to be rewarded.
