Agriculture Is Dependent On You,Lusaka Tells Chief Officers

Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka graced the official opening of the induction of chief officers in the agriculture sector on Tuesday.

Speaking during the event held in Mombasa, Lusaka called on the officers to observe high integrity while helping their county bosses achieve their visions.

“You run very crucial departments that hold a key role in the economy of the country; it is therefore incumbent on you that you provide outstanding leadership,” said Lusaka.

The principal, who is also the chair of agriculture at the COG, observed that the transformation of county-level agricultural practices does not only contribute to national prosperity but also plays a significant role in addressing global challenges, particularly climate change.

“Agriculture in Kenya has always served as the backbone of our economy, providing sustenance for our people and livelihoods for millions in the face of climate change,” observed Lusaka.

He added: “In a swiftly evolving global market, adapting and innovating have become imperatives. This is where county chief officers are pivotal. As dedicated public servants, your role in shaping our agricultural future is more critical than ever.”

Profitability in the agricultural sector

He called on the officers to consider county agricultural transformation in order to enhance productivity, ensure sustainability and boost.

“As County Chief Officers, you are the architects of this transformation, crafting a path that aligns with national policies while honouring the unique characteristics and resources of each county,” he said.

He further called on the officers in the agriculture sector to create solutions for the increasing climate change.
