The Equitable Party of Kenya (TEP) is set to field a candidate in the forthcoming senatorial by election in Bungoma.

The seat has been rendered vacant after the senator elect Moses Wetangula resigned to contest for the speaker of the national assembly under Kenya Kwanza banner.

Wetangula was elected on Thursday after flooring former Speaker Kenneth Marende from Azimio coaition.

The party chairman Kenneth Butiya has said his party will have a formidable candidate in the senate contest.

“ We have had an extensive consultations within the party leadership and we have taken a bold decision of diving into the political ring in Bungoma senate seat battle “, said Mr Butiya in a presser in Webuye town.

Mr Butiya said they will soon unveil the candidate .

IEBC is yet to declare the seat vacant and gazzete the date of the elections.

Former Kimilili MCA and renown Luhya musician David Barasa was in attendance.

He said the party will offer the voters a choice from single party dominance in the county.

There are speculations that the flamboyant politician could fly the new party’s flag the oncoming by-election .
