Member of Parliament for Mwea, Mary Maingi, has pledged her full support for the Kenya Kwanza’s manifesto pillar of environmental conservation.

On the occasion of International Earth Day, Maingi emphasized the collective responsibility of caring for our environment, stating that every positive action towards Earth’s well-being makes a significant difference.

Her comments align with President William Ruto’s consistent calls for environmental protection to counteract the adverse effects of climate change. President Ruto has urged Kenyans multiple times to actively participate in the government’s tree-planting initiatives aimed at increasing the nation’s tree cover.

“President Ruto’s commitment to environmental preservation is commendable. If there is a program promoting tree planting or environmental conservation in Mwea or anywhere in Kenya, I am fully behind it,” stated Maingi.

Maingi further stressed the importance of nurturing and protecting the planted trees until they reach maturity. She believes that forests and wetlands are not only essential for environmental health but also play a vital role in the country’s economy and overall well-being.

In addition to tree planting, President Ruto has called on Kenyans to refrain from encroaching on the nation’s wetlands and forests. He emphasized the critical importance of protecting water catchment areas to ensure favorable climatic conditions, a healthy environment, and adequate rainfall to support agriculture.

Maingi echoed these sentiments, stating, “It’s not just about planting trees but also about educating our communities on the value of environmental conservation. When people understand and witness the benefits of a healthy environment, they are more likely to actively participate in conservation efforts.”

She also commended President Ruto’s vision for a greener and more sustainable Kenya and called on other leaders to emulate his dedication to environmental protection. According to Maingi, political will and leadership are crucial in driving forward environmental conservation initiatives.

“As leaders, we have a responsibility to lead by example and inspire our constituents to take action for the good of our planet,” Maingi emphasized.

In conclusion, Mary Maingi reaffirmed her unwavering support for the government’s environmental conservation efforts and encouraged all Kenyans to contribute to safeguarding the environment.

“On this International Earth Day, let us all pledge to do our part in protecting and preserving our beautiful planet for future generations. No change is too small, and together, we can make a difference,” she concluded.
