Governor Wavinya Ndeti partners with sponsors to ensure needy students get educated

A family in Athi River now has hope of their 13-year-old girl achieving her dream be to a surgeon after Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti ensured she got sponsors to facilitate her education for the next four years.
Wavinya chipped in to ensure the needy girl Susan Mbithi who scored 395 marks joins Limuru Girls High School and achieves her goal after high school.


The governor said education is at her heart and she is ready to ensure all the needy students get sponsors and scholars in partnership with Machakos County Government who will ensure they are educated.


“This is what as leaders we are mandated to do. It has been the initiative of my county government to ensure that the needy students get to school and proceed with their education,” she stated.


She asked the student to work hard keeping in mind that she was among the lucky forty students in Machakos County who have been able to secure scholarships through the initiative of the county.


Speaking to TaarifaNews after ensuring that Susan is well at Limuru girls, Machakos County Chief Officer for Education Simon Mwako said through the initiative of Governor Wavinya, companies, and various banks have cooperated with the county to ensure students get to high school.


He stated that the 41 students who have been so far sponsored through the initiative will have all four academic years’ fees paid to help them study and meet their goals.


“41 students have so far benefited through the initiative of our abled governor partnering with companies who will see the education of all the needy students is well catered for. We are still approaching more and let all who have not yet joined high school come out will be helped,” he stated.


On Sunday, earlier this week K24 Digital aired the story of Susan Mbithi who nearly missed joining the prestigious national school due to lack of fees as she is an orphan living with her brother who is jobless.
The 2022 students started reporting to the various high schools they were called to on Monday, February, 6, 2023.
