Musician Ben Githae now says he should not to blame for the current problems that Kenyans are going through: joblessness, high cost of living and the spiraling public debt.
Speaking with Taarifa News during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Wanguru stadium, Githae asked Kenyans to work harder and seek God’s guidance.
“Mimi ningewaomba wajifanyie kazi na waombe kibali kutoka kwa mungu,” the musician said on Wednesday.
“Wakienda kwa lawama, hata mtu atakataa kuoa aseme ni Ben Githae, mwingine atakataa kuoga aseme ati ni Ben Githae.”
He also urged Kenyans to pray to God, and to keep the faith, promising that things would be better if they did.
According to the popular musician, the song ‘Tano Tena’- that was synonymous with Jubilees’ political success in the 2017 polls was a product of divine inspiration.
“Hata sometime wananitroll, wanasema wewe Githae ulitudanganya, hiyo conviction ambayo ilifanya nifanye wimbo iwatoe nyumbani ni kipawa kutoka kwa mungu,” he added.
At the moment Githae says he is yet to write any song, even with the polls nigh, as he is waiting for direction, and inspiration from God.
“Sahii nangojea mungu alete ile tunaita inspiration ama ufunuo, ili usifanye kitu waikatae,” the musician said.
“Naomba mungu atupe direction, wakati tu nitaenda kwa studio, ile kitu nitatoa, iwatoe nyumbani”
In early 2020, during an interview with a local tabloid, Githae said he wrote the song as his contribution to the presidential campaigns.
He was supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta who was seeking mandate for the second term in office.
According to Githae, despite the song being used to widely rally up Uhuru supporters to vote in their numbers, the choice was ultimately made by more than 8 million Kenyans.
“The president was voted for by over 8 million Kenyans, the ones claiming my song guided their choice of candidates are lying. How can such a huge mass be influenced by a person of my stature,” he told the tabloid.
Githae was accompanied by a smattering of Kenyan musicians who teamed together to release a Mashujaa day song.
