IEBC to oversee KNUT elections Tomorrow

The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission [IEBC] will tomorrow oversee the elections of Kenya National Union of Teachers elections.

The union agreed to conduct in person voting after the ministry of health okayed the exercise to be conducted.

“The elections will be held in strict compliance with the Covid-19 guidelines as issued by the Ministry of Health to avoid transmission of the dreaded virus within the delegates who will be attending the Special Delegates Conference,” said Sossion.

Health Principal Secretary Susan Mochache gave approval for in-person voting after Knut issued elaborate measures to check against the spread of the virus at the polling venue.

Part of the measures includes a walk-in-walk-out voting pattern to avoid crowding.Delegates from 12 counties have also be advised to travel on the election day to cast their votes and return home.

This will apply to delegates from Nakuru, Kiambu, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kirinyanga, Embu, Machakos, Makueni, Narok, and Kajiado will vote and leave same day.
