Section of Mukuru Kwa Njenga  residents now want National Environment Management Authority to allow dumping at Kware site saying it will help in ensuring the site is monitored and filled.

Led by former Kware MCA Rose Kula, the current state of the quarry is posing a serious security threat to the residents.

She avers that turning into a legalised dumpsite will minimize the criminal activities.

“I have been staying in Mukuru since 1986 and I know very well how people have lost their lives in the this quarry.It started with a hollow area left with an investor who used to mine in there.He left and that site was not filled or rather relevant authorities did not fill it.Slowly it turned into a dumping site.Many have been killed and thrown inside that quarry,” Rose a resident alluded.

“So blamed it to Nema and County Government of Nairobi for not being responsible.They have never gazetted this place yet it was being used as dumpsite despite insecurity that has been witnessed over years.” She added.

Police Investigations

Meanwhile the police has been given 21 days to unravel the mystery surrounding the killings.

Acting Inspector General Douglas Kanja says they are doing all they can to ensure no stone is left upturned.

The bodies are similarly tied in a sacks.

“Our officers in collaboration with the ODPP are working tirelessly to conclude the investigations within 21 days.The police service and I would like to assure the public that we are committed to conducting transparent, thorough, and swift investigations,” he added
