Civil society organization, Bunge la Mwananchi has defended projects by Kenya Railways Corporation saying lot’s of youths have got employment through them.
The projects, including the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and ongoing expansions, have created significant economic opportunities for Kenyans.
“These projects provide direct employment for thousands of workers, including engineers, construction laborers, and railway staff,” Bunge President Francis Awino stated.
“Additionally, they stimulate local economies by boosting businesses such as transport services, hospitality, and trade along the railway routes. Farmers and traders also benefit from improved transportation of goods, reducing costs and increasing market access,” he added.
They criticized individuals are spreading misinformation and trying to sabotage the crucial developments by the corporation.
“Whether driven by personal interests, politics, or other motives, such actions only harm ordinary Kenyans who rely on these projects for their livelihood. If someone has their own issues or political drama, they should handle it separately instead of dragging down projects that uplift many people. Development should not be held hostage by misinformation or sabotage. Let’s support progress and ensure that Kenya moves forward,” he added.
