BangBet Limited spread the festive cheer by providing Christmas food donations to over 1,000 widows and orphans in Makueni County.
The event at Kako Comprehensive School highlighted the betting company’s commitment to community support through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The event was spearheaded by Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB) Chairperson, Reverend Dr. Jane Makau, a native of the Kako area. In her speech, Makau emphasized the vital role that women, especially widows, play in society.
“Widows are often the backbone of their families, nurturing children and keeping communities together. Empowering them through support and opportunities is essential for sustainable development.” She said.
Makau praised BangBet for their generous contribution, describing it as a compassionate gesture that would bring joy to the beneficiaries during the holiday season. BangBet’s Manager, David Gichuhi, echoed her sentiments.
“Our CSR campaign is about giving back to the communities that support us. Today’s event is not just about food donations; it’s about giving hope to those who need it most,” he said.
The occasion drew prominent government officials, including Principal Secretary for the State Department of Devolution, Teresia Mbaika Malokwe, and President’s Advisor on Women’s Rights, Hon. Harriette Chiggai. Both commended BangBet for its continued efforts to uplift vulnerable groups, encouraging more companies to follow its example.
BangBet’s donation was not just limited to food; the company also commissioned a borehole project at Kako Comprehensive School in partnership with the BCLB. This borehole will provide clean water to the school and the surrounding community, helping alleviate the water shortage issues in the region.
