A silent revolution is happening in the African e mobility space with new electric models looking tap into the emerging challenges.
On such revolution has seen Agilitee, Africa’s top electric vehicle maker, unveiled a new version of its three-wheeled scooter.
It’s called the Agilitee LoadMO, a fully electric delivery scooter and their most premium three-wheeler yet.
The LoadMO is set to hit the road in early 2024, marking Agilitee’s debut in the three-wheeler market.
Agilitee will be looking to tap on the new regional markets with the devices continuing to gain traction in the continent.
While most of the focus in the e-mobility sector in other countries in East Africa such as Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda has been on conventional motorcycles for applications in the motorcycle taxi industry, electric scooters for personal mobility are a quite big deal in Dar Es Salaam.
Although some of these electric two-wheelers are being used for personal mobility, similar to how they are employed in some Asian countries, the last mile delivery sector is also a major off-taker of these electric two-wheelers.

According to tech sources the new model is powered by 5kw batteries, allowing it to zoom up to 50 kilometers per hour and travel up to 200 kilometers on a single charge.
This scooter can handle a load of up to 250kg and handles rough roads with ease. You can get it for R110,000 or $6,000, with a leasing option available. Agilitee has been championing electric vehicles in Africa for five years, already on the roads in South Africa’s provinces like Eastern Cape, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and Gauteng. They’re expanding to a fifth province this week.
Agilitee is also making strides in Kenya under Fred Muteti’s leadership as Chairman of Agilitee East Africa Limited in Nairobi. The goal is to have their vehicles all over South Africa by December 2023, as stated by Mandla Lamba, the company’s founder.
Agilitee’s remarkable work earned them the 203rd spot in Tracxn’s rankings, a company tracking startups and private firms in tech sectors. Tracxn considers Agilitee one of the world’s largest EV manufacturers. In 2022, Agilitee went public, and they have plans for an IPO and raising capital, setting the stage for future global expansion.
