Uhuru Park and Central Park will be a no go Zone for the next three months.

This is after the Nairobi County Assembly approved a motion to allow the parks be closed for renovations.
The Motion which was moved by the Majority leader Abdi Guyo seeks to restore them to their former glory.

Guyo said the move was reached after consultations between the NMS leadership and the City hall.
The County government is supposed to take care of the parks which include: Uhuru Park, Michuki Park, Central Park, Jevanjee Gardens and Uhuru gardens.

Guyo called on the NMS and the executive to prior inform the public about it.

He also claimed that the parks have been neglected and are on the verge of losing historical significance.

“NMS has invested in the renovation of Michuki Memorial Park which is a boost as members visit the park on a daily basis. Uhuru Park and Central Park have just remained in despair,”said Guyo.

He said this will be a presidential legacy and needs full support from the County government.
Seconding the motion, the Minority leader Michael Ogada said the renovation would take approximately 3 months to ensure some good work is done.

“Let us give them the three months they are requesting but but let them not fence the parks and disappear,” said Ogada

“We must assure the public that there will be nothing sinister going to happen in the parks. Ensure also that not a single inch goes to the private hands,”added Francis Ngesa who is Dandora Area 4 MCA.
