Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has said that he was denied justice in locals courts hence the decision to move to the East African Court of Justice.

Sonko had earlier been cleared to Vie  as Governor in Mombasa county before the court withheld the decision that he was duly impeached.

The move led to the eventual cancellation of his certificate that had been issued by IEBC.

“I was persecuted in the supreme court in Kenya, I have been persecuted in the Court of Appeal  It’s not the end of sonko it’s just the start,” Sonko said in a live TV interview.

The troubled former Governor now says he’s in the review process at the EACJ and if he doesn’t get Justice he will likely move to the East African Court of Appeal.

Sonko argues that according to the Kenyan Constitution, you can’t be disqualified from vying of you haven’t exhausted all your appeal  channels.

If I am persecuted in the EA court of Justice we have EA court of Appeal

Sonko also faulted, Chief Justice Martha Koome and DPP Noordin Haji’s decision to wade into his matter with court.

Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji had said former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s political career has a slim chance of surviving.

This is despite him asking the Supreme Court to review their decision to uphold his impeachment.

In his opinion, the DPP said the grounds on which Sonko has chosen to pursue his case are not very strong despite him having the right to do so.
