The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition picked on Igathe and former Kibwezi Member of Parliament Philip Igathe as his deputy for the as it’s preferred ticket .

This came after days of negotiations and consultations that saw Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi step down to defend his seat while Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry President Richard Ngatia agreed to land a state job in favor of Igathe’s candidature.

Igathe worked as Sonko’s deputy in 2017 before resigning in 2018 but the two are now promising to work together.
