Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has ditched the Wiper Party and is considering vying for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate.

Sonko’s move is said to have been triggered by Wiper Party’s move to back Jubilee’s Richard Ngatia.

Sonko is expected to mount serious campaigns across the City Estates in what appears to be a defiant gesture towards his party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and the entire Azimio brigade.

A close ally to the ex-governor confirmed that he will be traversing the city from midweek this coming week.

” He feels betrayed by the party leader who endorsed a candidate from another party,” the source said.

It is not clear whether Sonko will be cleared by IEBC to vie but his party boss has pronounced himself on the same, saying that Sonko is free to run for any elective seat
