Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has today come to the resque of struggling Gor Mahia football club donating to the team Ksh.100,000 to offset their training charges owed to their training base at Jericho Camp Toyoyo.
Gor was locked out of training for a couple of days for unspecific non payment. On hand to receive the money on behalf of the club was former organising secretary Judith Nyangi at Sonko’s private office at Nairobi’s Upperhill.
This comes five months after Sonko rescued Gor Mahia to honour their Africa continental fixture, he was at it again to save the premier league champions who were out in the cold after being locked out from their training grounds.
Sonko further gave Ksh100,000 to the players for their upkeep. In February, Sonko salvaged Gor’s trip to Zambia to face NAPS after they were stuck due to lack of air tickets.
Sonko who was hospitalized at Nairobi hospital was touched by Gor’s plight and made a Sh500,000 donation from his hospital which allowed Gor to make the trip
